Question: What should I name my icon file?

Answer:

Your icon file name should be simple, such as the name of your library. Use only letters from the English alphabet and numbers in the file name. Do not use special characters or spaces. For example: libft.gif; libprint.gif; mylib.jpg.

Question: Can I put the icon in an HTML page and supply its URL as the Icon URL?

Answer:

No. The Icon URL should point directly to the image file, e.g. http://www.goodlibrary.edu/icondirectory/library.gif. Also the Icon URL must be publicly accessible (URLs that begin with https:// will not work) and should not contain special characters or spaces (Note: spaces are represented by %20 in a URL).

Question: I created new icons for my library and loaded them to my server more than 48 hours ago, however, I don't see my new icons in PubMed. I kept the same file name and so the URL is the same as the one for the old icons. What's the problem?

Answer:

Every time an icon is uploaded to your local server, even if the URL or file name remained the same, the change should be recorded by pressing the Save button in the Library Submission Utility Add or Edit LinkOut Icon function. The new icons should appear in PubMed after 48 hours.
