Clipboard

In the Working with Search Results module, you learned how to add items to the Clipboard. The Clipboard can collect up to 500 items. Open the Clipboard by clicking on the Clipboard tab.

Saving Items in the Clipboard
Follow these steps to save citations in the Clipboard and send them to a file on your computer.
[Note: The Show Me for this demo begins with sending citations to the Clipboard.]

  • Select the citations you want to save, or select none to save all of the items in your Clipboard. Choose a Display format.
  • Select File from the Send to menu.
  • A Save As window opens. Change the name of the file to something more meaningful. Use an appropriate file extension.
  • Save the file to a location on your computer. [Show Me]

Printing Items in the Clipboard
To print items in the Clipboard:

  • Select the citations you want to print, or select none to print all the citations in the Clipboard.
  • Select Printer from the Send to menu. A popup window opens.
  • Click the Print this page button. [Show Me]
  • When finished, click the Close this window button. [Show Me]

See the section on Collections in My NCBI for details on how to save citations from the Clipboard to My NCBI Collections.

Removing Items from the Clipboard
Remove citations from the Clipboard as follows:

  • Check the citations you want to delete. Select Clip Remove from the Send to menu. A verification message will appear. Click OK. [Show Me]
  • If you want to empty the entire Clipboard, select Clip Remove from the Send to menu without checking any citations.
