Publication Type [PT]

The Publication Type [pt] describes the type of material the citation represents.

  • Use [pt] to qualify Publication Type.
  • Example: vascular disease [majr] AND twin study [pt]

Publication Types are available for searching using the Type of Article menu in Limits. The complete list of Publication Types can be found in PubMed's Help. Publication Types are also included in the MeSH Database.

Secondary Source Identifier [SI]

The [si] qualifier identifies a secondary source that supplies information, e.g., other data sources, databanks and accession numbers of molecular sequences (e.g., GenBank; ClinicalTrials.gov – beginning in July 2005).

  • Use [si] to qualify the Secondary Source Identifier. The field is composed of a source followed by a slash followed by an accession number.
  • Examples:
    genbank/af113832 [si]

    clinicaltrials.gov/nct00000419 [si]
    clinicaltrials.gov [si]
