Due to constraints in how CatfilePlus in XML and Serfile in XML files are created from LocatorPlus records:
* No distinction is made between New and Modified records.
** Licensees will occasionally receive record deletes for records that they never received, or have already deleted. Additionally, licensees should be aware that records which were previously deleted may be reinstated and could reappear as new records, with the SAME record identifier in <NlmUniqueID> as was used earlier.
For these reasons, it is NOT possible for licensees to calculate the total number of unique records which comprise Catfile in XML or Serfile in XML after any particular update by performing addition and subtraction calculations against the number of records in the base pull.

*** As of 10/1/2004, update files containing the previous (one) month's data normally will be placed on the server by the second working day of the month. Full base pulls will normally occur only once/year, when the MeSH vocabulary and other 'year-end' maintenance has been performed and new DTDs go into effect.
