Updates to MEDLINE^®/PubMed^® XML Data Elements

The following elements have been modified in MEDLINE/PubMed XML Element Descriptions and their Attributes:

• 8 September 2008 - Added information about forward slash character included in LastName in <AuthorList>.
• 7 May 2008 - Added example to <ELocationID>.
• 16 April 2008 - Added <ELocationID> and updated relevant information in <Pagination>.
• 16 April 2008 - Added <ISSNLinking> and updated relevant section of <ISSN>.
• 16 April 2008 - Added information about new use of <InvestigatorList> and updated relevant section of <AuthorList>.
• 16 April 2008 - Added two examples to <CommentsCorrections>.
• 19 February 2008 - Added list of values for DatabankName in <DataBankList>.
• 5 November 2007 - Added QCICL and QCIM to <OtherID>.
• 15 October 2007 - Added e-article example to <Pagination>.
• 1 October 2007 - Added clarification about when ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN identifier numbers added to <DataBankList>.
• 17 July 2007 - Added information about PubChem Substance to <DataBankList>.
• 19 April 2007 - Added note about PubMed Central abstract data to<Abstract>
• 30 March 2007 - Added more information about abstract data to <Abstract>
• 17 January 2007 - Added PubChem identifiers to <DataBankList>.
• 11 December 2006 - Added PartialRetractionOf and PartialRetractionIn to <CommentsCorrections>.
• 11 December 2006 - Removed ending periods in <Title>.
• 11 December 2006 - Changed references from OLDMEDLINE status in <MedlineCitation> to OLDMEDLINE <CitationSubset>, to better define this set of records. Beginning in 2007, OLDMEDLINE records where all original subject terms have been mapped to MeSH have the status of MEDLINE.
• 16 October 2006 - Added QIS to <CitationSubset>. Edited subsets D, J, N and R to remove references to Index Medicus.
• 21 September 2006 - Added RefSeq to <DataBankList>.
• 7 August 2006 - Clarified spacing of initials in <AuthorList>.
• 11 July 2006 - Updated <GrantList>: NLM began editing NIH grant numbers when letter O was incorrectly used in place of number 0.
• 6 June 2006 - Updated <DataBankList>: retrospective maintenance to ISRCTN.
• 15 May 2006 - Updated <AuthorList> to reflect new policy on interfiling collective names.
• 6 April 2006 - Added information about [PubMed - author manuscript in PMC] in <MedlineCitation> Status attribute: Publisher. Added information about collective author order in <AuthorList>. Added Wellcome Trust information to <GrantList>. Added information about ISRCTN in <DataBankList>.
• 2 March 2006 - Added information about use of <Note> in <CommentsCorrections> with <RetractionOf> and <RetractionIn>.
• 31 January 2006 - Accession numbers for data deposited in NLM’s Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database added to the <DataBankList> element.
• 9 December 2005 - Added <Journal>, <ISOAbbreviation>, <Title>, <JournalIssue>, Cited Medium attribute of <JournalIssue>, ISSNType attribute of <ISSN>
• 15 November 2005 - <Notes> properties added to <CommentsCorrections>
• 29 July 2005 - <ISSN>, <MedlineTA>, <GeneSymbolList>,<MedlineCitation>
• 8 July 2005 - <MedlineCitation>
