Historic Revision Notes for Previous Versions of NLMMedlineCitation DTD

The following changes were made.

The nlmmedlinecitation_080101.dtd used for the 2008 production year:

  1. Changed entity reference from "nlmsharedcatcit_070101.dtd" to: "nlmsharedcatcit_080101.dtd"
  2. Added entity EIdType with doi and pii values.

The nlmmedlinecitation_070101.dtd used for the 2007 production year:

  1. Changed entity reference from "nlmsharedcatcit_060101.dtd" to: "nlmsharedcatcit_070101.dtd"
  2. Added PartialRetractionOf and PartialRetractionIn to the CommentsCorrections element. These elements are established as a means of distinguishing between a journal article that is retracted in whole (reflected by use of already existing RetractionOf and RetractionIn elements) versus one that is retracted in part (e.g., a cell line was contaminated but that didn't affect all the results/conclusions of the paper). The new <PartialRetractionOf> element contains the bibliographic reference of an article being partially retracted, and is present in the citation for the notice of partial retraction. <PartialRetractionIn> contains the bibliographic reference of the notice of partial retraction, and is present in the citation for the original paper.

The nlmmedlinecitation_060101.dtd used for the 2006 production year:

  1. Changed entity reference from "nlmsharedcatcit_04111.dtd" to"nlmsharedcatcit_060101.dtd"
  2. Added values QCICL and QCIM to the Source internal entity (for future use when additional OLDMEDLINE records are added to PubMed)

The nlmmedlinecitation_041101.dtd used for the 2005 production year:

  1. Changed entity reference from "nlmsharedcatcit_031101.dtd" to: "nlmsharedcatcit_041101.dtd"
  2. Added ReprintIn and ReprintOf to CommentsCorrections element
    (Note: NLM has decided not to use these new elements during the 2005 production year).
  3. Added values MEDLINE and OLDMEDLINE to the Status internal entity.
  4. Added attribute PubModel to Article element.
  5. Added PubModel and its values to internal entity List.
  6. Changed element from MedlineID to NlmDcmsID.
  7. Removed NCT value from Source internal entity.

The nlmmedlinecitation_031101.dtd used for the 2004 production year:

  1. Changed entity reference from "nlmcommon_021101.dtd" to: "nlmcommon_031101.dtd"
  2. MedlineId removed from entity Ref.template.
  3. Added In-Data-Review and Publisher as values to Status entity and removed Out-Of-Scope value from Status entity.
  4. Moved KeywordList, Keyword, SpaceFlightMission, ChemicalList, Chemical, RegistryNumber, NameOfSubstance, GeneralNote, PersonalNameSubject, PersonalNameSubjectList, OtherAbstract, InvestigatorList, Investigator, OtherID, DateCreated, DateCompleted and DateRevised element definitions out of nlmmedlinecitation_031101.dtd to nlmsharedcatcit_031101.dtd.
  5. List of internal DTD entities moved above Entity reference section.
  6. Changed order of values in Status entity (Completed now before In-Process).
  7. RefSource and Note elements moved from list of internal DTD entities list to Further Definition of NLM Tags.
  8. Alphabetized lists of internal DTD entities and Further Definition of NLM Tags.

The nlmmedlinecitation_021101.dtd used for the 2003 production year:

  1. Deleted CASRegistryNumber element from Chemical element.
  2. Changed "http://www.nlm.nih.gov/databases/dtd/nlmcommon_011101.dtd" to: "nlmcommon_021101.dtd"

The nlmmedlinecitation_011101.dtd used for the 2002 production year:

  1. Added NOTNLM to Owner entity.
  2. Added Status Entity.
  3. Added Status attribute for MedlineCitation.
  4. Added RegistryNumber to Chemical Element.
  5. Added PMID and MedlineID to CommentsCorrections.
  6. Added NRCBL value to SOURCE entity.

The nlmmedlinecitation_010319.dtd used for the 2001 production year:

  1. Added the following values to the Owner entity:
    (NASA | PIP | KIE | HSR | HMD | SIS )
  2. Removed AdditionalInformation element from MedlineCitation (note, this element had been optional and was never used)
  3. Added the following elements to MedlineCitation:
    OtherID
    OtherAbstract
    KeywordList
    SpaceFlightMission
    InvestigatorList
    GeneralNote
  4. Added Affiliation to Investigator
  5. Removed Procurement Source from DTD
  6. Removed AbstractAuthor from OtherAbstract
  7. Added Attribute List for OtherAbstract Type
  8. Added NLM default to MedlineCitationOwner attribute.
  9. Added %PMID.Ref Entity
  10. Added Attribute for Keyword
  11. Removed Element Owner and Element Type from DTD.
  12. Added NLM default to KeywordList & GeneralNote Owner attribute.
  13. Added attribute values for OtherID Source.
  14. Added ErratumFor to the CommentsCorrections element.
  15. Changed Investigator element to reference personalname.
  16. Added SummaryForPatientsIn and OriginalReportIn to CommentCorrections
  17. Added %MedlineID.Ref Entity
