This advertisement attempted to debunk six common myths of how AIDS spread. Although research early in the 1980s proved that all of these activities were safe, misinformation persisted that workplaces, restaurants, bathrooms, even casual contact could be dangerous.

    The American Hospital Association states: “There has been no evidence of person-to-person transmission (of AIDS) through ordinary social or occupational contact: likewise, there has been no evidence of airborne or foodborne transmission of this illness.” The AIDS virus is transmitted by intimate sexual contact, contaminated blood products, or by sharing needles.
