Objects of Art: The NLM Visitor's Center
Location: Building 38A, Lobby
To get a well-rounded view of how the Library operates, take time to see the NLM Visitors' Center. Officially opened July 9, 1986 during the Library's Sesquicentennial, the Center is a starting point for the daily NLM tours and a one-stop station where you can get information about the Library and its programs by using interactive displays, microcomputers, and video stations. The Center provides visitors with both a concise profile of NLM's activities and the experience of directly using the technologies currently being applied to
NLM programs. Videocassettes about NLM are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Japanese.

Six display panels in the Center give a brief overview of the Library and its collection and feature highlights of its programs. Prints located in the back of the Center are from the History of Medicine Division picture collection.

Fact sheets and brochures are available in the Center which is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Daily tours are held Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays, at 1:30 p.m.
