Our Oral History Collection, titled the "John W. Pender Collection of the Living History of Anesthesiology", began in the mid 1960's. The collection is primarily interviews of anesthesiologists by anesthesiologists. Additional interviews of prominent historians, inventors and those associated with the American Society of Anesthesiologists are included in the collection.
The collection continues to grow annually. We currently have approximately 150 interviews. Interviews are being added several times per year.
Our Oral History Collection began in the mid 1960's. Early interviews were recorded on 16 mm film. The film has recently been converted to VHS and DVD format. The collection spans from the 1960's to the present. It is a wonderful resource of biographical information and documentation of the growth of the specialty of anesthesiology.
VHS and DVD copies of our Oral History Collection are available. Our Web site will soon be re-designed. We will have several video streams of our collection on our Web site.
The Wood Library-Museum holds the copyright to the collection. A list of the collection is available on our Web site: http://www.asahq.org/wlm/Lvghst2.htm . Contact the WLM for purchase, loan, and/or permission requests.
Transcripts are not available at the present time.
