Miranda Jarnot joined the Medical Subject Headings Section in June 2012, after nearly twelve years as a contract indexer with the NLM Index Section. She received a B.A degree in Biology and Psychology from Florida State University, an M.A. in Biology from Wesleyan University (Connecticut), and a Ph.D. in Neurophysiology/Biomedical Sciences from Wright State University, Dayton, OH.
She held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Brunswick in the Division of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, where she was involved in the elucidation of signal pathways in midbrain respiratory neurons and control of breathing. Dr. Jarnot also served as Adjunct Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at North Harris College, Houston, TX.
