Barba M. Koroma joined Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) unit in 2008. Dr. Koroma earned a BS degree in Biological Sciences, Njala University, Sierra Leone, MS in Seed Technology, University of Edinburgh, (UK), PhD in Biology (Plant Biotechnology concentration), North Carolina State University, and MA in Education and Human Development, George Washington University. In addition, Dr. Koroma also completed professional development courses in Project Management and Technology Transfer.

Dr. Koroma has extensive professional experience in academia (as postdoctoral Research Fellow, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor), and the US federal sector. His biomedical research experience focused on cellular signaling, vascular proliferation and developmental biology. Recently, Dr. Koroma completed a tour of detail at the NIH Center for Scientific Review, where he was Scientific Review Officer in the Risk, Prevention, and Health Behavior Integrated Review Group.
