Publication Types - Genre Terms


All Publication Types are listed here, indicating those generally used for indexing of current articles and those used for cataloging. The year in parenthesis is the date of introduction of the term, in either its present or a directly equivalent earlier form. Most of the Publication Types introduced in 1991 were added to retrospective MEDLINE citations as well. For additional information, see Cataloging Practices. Because of input from organizations that cooperate with NLM in database building, some citations may contain publication type values not included in the lists below, such as LAW (PT) in formerly in BIOETHICSLINE and AIDSLINE.
