Nancy Sorden joined the Medical Subject Headings Section in May 1997. She had previously been with NLM's Index Section as a member of the GenBank annotation staff for NCBI. She also indexed journals in the areas of biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology and molecular biology.
She has a B.S. in Biology/Genetics Group from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida and a Ph.D in Cell Biology and Biochemistry from The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC.
Dr. Sorden's responsibilities in MeSH include maintaining and expanding the MeSH vocabulary, particularly in the area of genetics.
