Loretta Tang joined the Medical Subject Headings Section in June 2000. She received her B.S. in Animal Science from the National Taiwan University, M.S. in Dairy Science and Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from the University of Georgia. She received postdoctoral training in Steroid Biochemistry at the University of Minnesota and Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Michigan.

She has held the position of Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and of Anatomy at the University of Rochester, NY. Her research interests were in the regulation of pituitary function and sexual differentiation of neuroendocrine function.
