1762: The Unangan (Aleut) resist Russian occupation

Unangan (Aleut) rebuff the Russian merchant Stepan Glotov. A group of armed Unangan men attacks a party of Promyshlenniki, who are Russian workers. Later the Unangan destroy most of the Russian fleet in the Aleutian Islands. The emerging conflict takes the lives of many Russian traders and the Unangan.

In 1992, archaeologists working for the Unangan locate the site where the Russian merchant Stepan Glotov was attacked by armed Unangan.
