Introduction to Health Services Research : A Self-Study Course
The Case Studies

Research Case Process

Cases can be done in any order. Be sure to refer back to the various content modules when you need additional information.

Read over the case introductions to get a feel for the issues.

After you have read over the case's introductory material and revisited or reexamined any relevant sites in the content modules you can apply what you have learned to specific questions that you may be asked to research for a client or researcher.

Note: You are not required to read over the introductory material in advance of trying these research cases. It might help you to answer the questions, however. And those modules are rich with information and resources about the field of health services research.

As you examine the feedback on the questions, keep in mind there may be more than one solution to each question. The examples in each case will give you one of several possible solutions to the questions asked of you.
