Rejection of an ILL Request

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) receives most Interlibrary Loan requests through DOCLINE, our automated interlibrary loan (ILL) request and referral system. DOCLINE participants should submit requests to NLM through DOCLINE. Libraries outside the DOCLINE network, that cannot locate material elsewhere, must use the American Library Association (ALA) or the International Federation of Libraries Association (IFLA) ILL form. Emailed requests must include all information in the ALA or IFLA form. Send to: custserv@nlm.nih.gov; Subject: ILL Request.

Non-DOCLINE requests must be legible; contain complete bibliographic citations; your institution's NLM assigned library identification number (LIBID); and, unique identifiers from NLM databases (PubMed or LocatorPlus), or from OCLC.

All ILL requests must include the authorizing person's name. Requests for copying must contain applicable copyright compliance indicator: Check CCG - complies with Section 108(g) 2; or CCL - complies with terms of the U.S. Copyright Act.

Your request was returned for the reason(s) checked:

*If resubmitting a request for an item not in the NLM collection, DOCLINE participants should select No for 'Route to NLM' on the routing instructions screen. Non-DOCLINE participants should use local and regional libraries for these requests.

If you experience problems using DOCLINE, please contact your Regional Medical Library (RML) at 1-800-338-7657 or contact NLM by e-mail to custserv@nlm.nih.gov or phone at 1-888-findnlm(346-3656). For more information about DOCLINE, including eligibility guidelines, visit the DOCLINE® System page (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/docline/newdocline.html). For questions about specific NLM requests, please contact the Collection Access Section by submitting the Contact ILL form (https://docline.gov/docline/help/contact_nlm/ill_web_form.cfm) or send an e-mail to custserv@nlm.nih.gov.
