RxNorm Current Prescribable Content Release Notes

March Release - 03/04/2013

This RxNorm Current Prescribable Content release is consistent with the 2012AB UMLS Metathesaurus release. For additional information about RxNorm releases, including scripts for loading the RxNorm data into Oracle and MySQL databases, read the RxNorm Technical Documentation.

Data Changes

The active ingredient for extended release drugs formerly listed as metoprolol tartrate has been changed to metoprolol succinate. Previously, the basis of strength substance (BoSS), metoprolol tartrate, was used in the normalized name for these drugs. Beginning with this release, the normalized names will now use metoprolol succinate instead. RXCUIs for these concepts will not change; however, the RXAUIs for the normalized names will change.
