Conclusions
We have investigated the ctive contour model method
to semi-automatically extract and register contours of Visible Human CT
images. We have successfully extract the external surface of the male and
female cadaver. Contours in most of CT images can be extracted automatically
once an initial contour is set. Also we have extracted the internal and
external surfaces of the male skull. Because of the complexity of skull
structure, it required more human intervention to reset initial contours
than the segmentation of the external surface of the cadavers. By increasing
the resolution of the CT images, human intervention should occur less.
In our future research, snake and level set approach will continue to play
a major role in automatic image segmentation.
