Standards and Measurement
American National Standards Institute (ANSI). ANSI facilitates the development of American National Standards (ANS) by accrediting the procedures of standards developing organizations (SDOs) which work cooperatively to develop voluntary national consensus standards.
International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO develops and publishes international standards for the international exchange of goods and services.
National Information Standards Organization (NISO). NISO is a non-profit association that develops standards specifically for libraries, information services, software developers, and publishers. Accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
ARL Statistics & Assessment (Association of Research Libraries). This page provides links to assessment tools for measuring service quality, resources usage, and outcomes assessment.
COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources). COUNTER is a not-for-profit company, based in the United Kingdom and supported by the vendor, intermediary and librarian communities. COUNTER sets Codes of Practice that provide vendors with an international set of standards and protocols for supplying consistent and compatible online usage data.

NISO Z39.7-201X Information Services and Use: Metrics & Statistics for Libraries and Information Providers Data Dictionary (NISO). This standard identifies categories for basic library statistical data reported at the national level. Provides definitions of terms.
Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) (NISO). This standard, ANSI/NISO Z39.93-2013, defines a protocol for automating the collection of usage statistics for electronic resources, replacing user-mediated collection of data.
