FAQ: Finding a List of Abridged Index Medicus or Index Medicus Journal Titles


How do I find a list of Abridged Index Medicus (AIM or "Core Clinical") or Index Medicus (IM) journal titles?


Abridged Index Medicus (AIM or "Core Clinical") journal titles:

  • A list is available from: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/aim.html

    OR

  • from the NLM Catalog at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog
    • Enter in search box: all [sb]
    • Click Search.
    • Under the Journal subsets filter on the left sidebar click "More..."
    • A Journal subsets pop-up box will display. Click the prepopulated boxes to deselect them. Under the section "Other subsets for currently indexed journals" click the box for Core clinical journals (AIM). Click the "Show" button.
    • The Core clinical journals (AIM) filter will now appear under the Journal subsets filter. Click the link for it and your search will be re-run with this filter.

    • Enter in the search box: jsubsetaim
    • Click search.

Index Medicus titles:

  • from the NLM Catalog at: http://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog
    • Enter in the search box: all [sb]
    • Click search.
    • Under the journal subsets filter on the left sidebar click "More..."
    • A Journal subsets pop-up box will display. Click the prepopulated boxes to deselect them. Under the section "Other subsets for currently indexed journals" click the box for Index medicus journals (IM). Click the "Show" button.
    • This filter will now appear under the Journal Subsets filter. Click the link for it and your search will be re-run with this filter.
