The National Library of Medicine® installed Voyager as the Library's integrated library system to support its basic library functions. Voyager was developed by Endeavor Information Systems, Inc., now part of the Ex Libris Group.
The Voyager System is an integrated information management system designed for academic and research libraries. Voyager replaced a number of internal custom-built systems developed at the NLM over the last 30 years.
NLM uses the Integrated Library System (ILS) for acquisitions, serials control, cataloging, collection management, circulation, preservation and as an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).
Voyager is a fully integrated system which combines open system architecture and relational database technology that allows NLM to incorporate data from the ILS into its other unique applications.
