NLM LocatorPlus -- Item Availabilty


Question: When searching in LocatorPlus, how do I know if an item is available?


Answer:

  • - Items in LocatorPlus that are owned by NLM and are processed will have a status. First, check to see if the item has a status. Here is the list of possible status messages, and what they mean:

Status:

Available

Available for circulation; not checked out

Status:

Not Available - Due on xx/xx/xx

Unavailable - checked out or at the bindery; gives the date when it is due back

Status:

Not Available (item, volume, issue, date, copy) - Reading Room Retrieval in Process

Unavailable - call slip request in process

Status:

Missing, Not Available

Unavailable - lost or not found on shelf

 


  • - Some items in LocatorPlus have a status, but also have additional information in the Location section:

Location:

HMD Collection-Copy may not be available for immediate use

Used for fragile films; if a service copy is not already available, one needs to be made before you can look at it.

 


 

  • - Items in LocatorPlus that do not include a status message give holdings information in the Location and Call Number/Order Information fields. Some possible messages and their meanings would be:
