International Agencies

  • For monographic materials, the Table G number for an international agency is used only when an international agency is given as a subject added entry and there are no geographic subjects. Usually (but not always) the agency will be the main entry
  • When an international agency given as the subject does not have a specific Table G number, "M1" is used
  • Do not use the Table G number for the geographic location of the agency
  • The Table G number of the parent body may be used for subordinate sections of the international agency
  • Examples:
    • A work on the World Bank strategy for health
      • 060 10 $a W 84 M1
      • 610 22 $a World Bank.
      • 650 12 $a Health Planning
    • [No Table G number is available for the World Bank]

    • A work on the World Bank strategy for health in East Asia
      • 060 10 $a W 84 JA1
      • 610 22 $a World Bank.
      • 650 12 $a Health Planning
      • 651  2 $a Far East
    • [Since there is a geographic subject in the record, the Table G number for Far East is used, and not the number for the World Bank]

    • A work about the WHO Cities and Health Advisory Task Force
      • 060 10 $a WA 530 MW6
      • 610 22 $a World Health Organization. $b Cities and Health Advisory Task Force
      • 650 12 $a World Health
    • [The Table G number for the parent body, World Health Organization, is MW6]
