Adjusting Records
- If your library prefers pre-coordinated subject strings and you import a record with deconstructed headings:
- First take data from the 651 $a and append it as a $z to each subject heading in the 650 field
- Take the data from the 655 $a and append it as $v to each 650 field, unless the 650 contains a $9
- If the 655 is Legislation or Statistics see the exceptions spelled out in the previous slides
- Delete the 651 and 655 fields from the record
- If your library prefers deconstructed headings and you import a record with pre-coordinated strings
- Create a 651 field for each unique $z in the 650
- Create a 655 field for each unique $v in the 650
- Delete the $z, $v from each 650 field
- Delete any $x at the end of a 650 string that is a language term
