Uranium miner gets his blood drawn for a PHS study, Scope Weekly, October 16, 1957

In 1950, the PHS and the National Cancer Institute conducted the first health study of uranium miners in the Colorado Plateau. Over time, many miners, Native American and white, were diagnosed with lung cancer or other severe respiratory illnesses.
