Sten Friberg, Rector of the Karolinska Institute, notifies American geneticist and microbiologist Joshua Lederberg of his receipt of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work in bacterial genetics. Lederberg shared the prize with George Wells Beadle and Edward Lawrie Tatum.
