NLM IndexCat™ Help Contents

IndexCat™ is the National Library of Medicine’s user interface that provides access to the following collections - the digitized version of the printed Index-Catalogue of the Library of the Surgeon General's Office, the Electronic Thorndike and Kibre (eTK for medieval Latin texts), and the Electronic Voigts and Kurtz (eVK2 for medieval English texts). In these instructions, the use of 'Index-Catalogue' refers to the digitized work in five series. IndexCat™ simultaneously searches Index-Catalogue, eTK, eVK2, NLM's online catalog LocatorPlus®, PubMed®, and PubMed Central®.

Searching NLM IndexCat™

All IndexCat™ searches are comprised of keywords. Currently, there is a maximum limit of 1,000 citations that will display for the Index-Catalogue and eTKeVK2 collections. LocatorPlus, PubMed, and PubMed Central will display 10 citations with a link directly to those databases.
