NLM Displays Works of Pulitzer Prize Photojournalist
The National Library of Medicine will display dozens of photographs by Pulitzer Prize photojournalist Moneta Sleet, Jr., from February 12 through March 2, 2001. The works will be on view in the Library's rotunda (Building 38).
The subject matter of the black and white and color pictures is diverse, ranging from the private reveries of Reggie Jackson to the elegant pirouettes of dancer Carmen de Lavallade. In 1969 Sleet was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his gripping picture of Coretta Scott King at Dr. King's funeral.
The exhibition, drawn largely from the pages of Jet and Ebony magazines, is touring nationally under the auspices of the Schomburg Traveling Exhibition Program. Arrangements were made by the NLM EEO Manager, Mr. David Nash.
