A New PubMed: Highlights for Information Professionals: Transcript

WELCOME TO THE WEBINAR I AM MARIE COLLINS
FROM THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR
BIOTECHNOLOGY INFORMATION AT
NLM,
WELCOME THANK YOU FOR
BEING HERE TODAY, I AM HAPPY TO
TALK ABOUT THE NEW PUBMED WITH
ALL OF YOU.
I WILL START WITH MY AGENDA
SLIDE.
TODAY I AM GOING TO TALK PRETTY
MUCH IN TWO PARTS, I WILL
INTRODUCE THE NEW PUBMED WITH
JUST A FEW SLIDES TO TELL YOU
ABOUT THE PROJECT AND THEN I'LL
SPEND, I THINK THE MAJORITY OF
THE TIME HANDS ON, GOING THROUGH
PUBMED TO SHOW YOU SOME OF THE
FEATURES THAT WE'VE BUILT INTO
THE NEW PUBMED AND THE THINGS I
MENTIONED IN MY SLIDES, I WILL
BE SURE TO POINT OUT LIVE IN THE
NEW PUBMED AND YOU'RE WELCOME TO
FOLLOW ALONG.
AND THEN I WILL TALK ABOUT
WHAT'S NEXT, WHAT'S COMING NEXT
AND OUR COMMUNICATION AND
PLANNING AS WE TRANSITION OUR
USERS TO A NEW PUBMED AND I'LL
TRY TO LEAVE PLENTY OF TIME FOR
QUESTIONS AND LIKE MIKE SAID THE
QUESTIONS IN CHAT WE DON'T GET
TO WE WILL COMPILE AND SEND OUT
AFTER THE WEBINAR SERIES IS
COMPLETED SO I WILL GO AHEAD AND
TURN OFF MY VIDEO NOW AND START
IN WITH MY SLIDES.
ALL RIGHT SO WE ARE
BUILDING A NEW PUBMED OR WE
SHOULD SAY WE HAVE BUILT A NEW
PUBMED.
WE ARE TRANSFORMING PUBMED INTO
A MODERN HUB WITH A FAST
RELIABLE AND INTUITIVE SEARCH
THAT CONNECTS PEOPLE TO THE
WORLD'S LEADING SOURCES OF
BIOMEDICAL INFORMATION AND THIS
GOAL STATEMENT OR MISSION
STATEMENT IN TERMS OF THE NEW
PUBMED WAS CREATED BY A TEAM
ACROSS THE LIBRARY, ACROSS ALL
LEVELS OF STAFF.
IT WAS A--THE LIBRARY OPERATIONS
TEAM, THE NCBI TEAM, NLM
MANAGEMENT, CAME UP WITH THIS
MISSION STATEMENT FOR THE NEW
PUBMED AND I LIKE IT A LOT SO I
USUALLY START MY PRESENTATIONS
WITH IT.
WE'RE MODERNIZING PUBMED AND
THIS IS NOT JUST A MODERNIZATION
OF OF THE INTERFACE, THIS GOES FAR BEYOND THE INTERFACE, WE'RE
MOVING PUBMED TO THE CLOUD AND IMPROVING THE ENTIRE
INFRASTRUCTURE, WHAT OUR USERS
SEE IS THE INTERFACE AND WE
BUILT THE NEW SYSTEM IN AN AGILE
DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT AND THIS
MEANS WE HAVE INCORPORATED USER
FEEDBACK AND USABILITY TEST AND
ANALYTICS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.
WE HAVE SPOKEN WITH LIBRARIANS, RESEARCHERS,
GRANT WRITERS, BIOCURATORS, CLINICIANS, PATIENT
HEALTH ADVOCATES WE'VE BUILT THE NEW PUBMED
USING AN INTERATIVE APPROACH THAT ALLOWS US TO USE
USER FEEDBACK AND USER BEHAVIOR AND INTEGRATE
WHAT WE LEARN INTO THE DESIGN AND OUR APPROACH OVER
AND OVER AGAIN AS WE BUILD THE NEW PUBMED
INDUSTRY WHAT WE LEARN IN OUR
DECISION AND APPROACH OVER AND
OVER AGAIN AS WE BUILD THE NEW
PUBMED.
SO HAVING SAID THAT WHAT WE HAVE
A NEW PUBMED THAT INCLUDES THE
FEATURES YOU RELY OI KNOW I HAVE
A BROAD AUDIENCE HERE IN TERMS
OF EXPERIENCE WITH PUBMED BUT IF
YOU'RE AN ADVANCED PUBMED USER,
I THINK YOU WILL FIND THE FEATURES
YOUR RELY ON.
IF YOU ARE NEW, I HOPE YOU ARE
EXCITED TO SEE WHAT IT CAN DO
FOR YOU, DON'T MIND THE FEATURES
I HAVE ON SLIDE, I AM PUTTING
THIS UP HERE SO CAN YOU SEE IT'S
A LONG LIST, ALL THE TOOLS
YOU'RE USED TO IN THE NEW PUBMED
THAT,A LOW YOU TO EITHER REFINE
OR EXPAND YOUR SEARCH ALL THE
FEATURES THAT LET YOU SHARE
THESE SEARCHES.
THEY'RE ALL THERE, I JUST WANT
TO HIGHLIGHT ONE THING WHICH IS
THE SEARCH DETAILS BECAUSE THIS
IS--AS MIKE SAID THE THIRD TIME
WE'RE DOING THIS PRESENTATION
AND THIS IS THE FIRST QUESTION
THAT WE GET EVERY TIME IS WE'RE
THE SEARCH DETAILS BUILT INTO
THE NEW PUBMED AND THEY WERE, SO
THAT'S KNOW WOTHE ONE THING WE
WILL HIGHLIGHT ON THIS SLIDE
BEFORE WE GO FURTHER AND AS I GO
THROUGH MY LIVE DEMO, I WILL BE
SURE TO SHOW YOU WHERE ALL THESE
THINGS ARE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO
THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT RIGHT
NOW.
I WILL GO THROUGH AND FIND AN
EXAMPLE OF EACH OF THESE DURING
THE DEMO.
IN ADDITION TO THE FEATURES THAT
YOU COME TO LOVE AND RELY ON, WE
HAVE NEW DISPLAY NAVIGATION AND
OUTPUT FEATURES, WE'VE IMPROVED
THE NAVIGATION IS A MODERN
INTERFACE USERS ARE WHO ARE NEW
TO PUBMED ARE VERY EXCITED, IT'S
VERY INTUITIVE AND CLEANER, I
WOULD SAY, SIMPLER.
THE BETTER NAVIGATION, WE'VE
INCORPORATED A CITE FEATURE
WHICH YOU MIGHT KNOW IS
AVAILABLE ALREADY IN PMC OR
PUBMED CENTRAL.
WE NOW HAVE THAT IN PUBMED WHERE
YOU GRAB THE CITATION FROM THE
ACTUAL CITATION FROM WHATEVER
ARTICLE CITATION YOU'RE LOOKING
AT.
WE'VE INCORPORATED ARTICLES
SNIPITS WITH HIGHLIGHTING SO YOU
CAN SEE HOW YOUR RESULTS WILL
RETURN TO YOU BY CERTAIN ARTICLE
CITATIONS WERE RETRIEVED AM
WE'RE MAKING THE SHARE ICONS
MORE OF AN INDUSTRY STANDARD AND
MORE APPARENT.
SO SHARING VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND
GRABBING A PERMA LINK IS A BIT
EASIER NOW.
FOR THE FIRST TIME WE'RE
ALLOWING UP TO FIVE LINK OUT
USING OUTSIDE TOOL ICONS SO IF
YOU ARE AFFILIATED WITH MULTIPLE
INSTITUTIONS, WHO PARTICIPATE IN
THE OUTSIDE TOOLS PROGRAM,
YOU'RE ABLE TO DISPLAY MORE THAN
ONE ICON AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF
ALL OF THOSE SUBSCRIPTIONS, AND
I'LL SHOW WHAT YOU THAT LOOKS
LIKE, WHEN WE GET TO THE DEMO.
FINALLY, THE NEW PUBMED IS A
TRULY RESPONSIVE WEBSITE SO IN
THE PAST WE'VE HAD SEPARATE
WEBSITES ONE FOR MOBILE AND ONE
FOR DESKTOP AND BESIDES THAT
BEING SORT OF A DEVELOPMENT
EFFORT THAT WE REALLY SHOULDN'T
BE GOING THROUGH TO MAINTAIN TWO
DIFFERENT SITES, THAT MEANT THAT
OUR MOBILE SITE WASN'T AS
FEATURE RICH AS OUR DESKTOP
EXPERIENCE.
SO A TRULY RESPONSIVE SITE
IMPROVING THE MOBILE EXPERIENCE
BECAUSE IT'S LITERALLY THE SAME
WEBSITE JUST ADAPTING TO THAT
OTHER TOOL THAT YOU'RE USING SO
THE FEATURES YOU FIND ON YOUR
DESKTOP, YOU WILL FIND ON YOUR
MOBILE DEVICE INCLUDING THE
ABILITY TO LINK TO THOSE ICONS
AND GET TO THE FULL TEXT THAT
WAY.
WHICH IS SOMETHING OUR USER VS
ASKED FOR FOR A LONG TIME.
AND THE RESPONSIVE SITE, THE
REASON WE'RE SORT OF MENTIONING
THIS IS BECAUSE ABOUT HALF OF
OUR TRAFFIC IS COMING FROM
MOBILE USERS NOW, SO THIS IS A
USER BASE THAT REALLY NEEDED
SOME ATTENTION AND WE'RE REALLY
HAPPY TO IMPROVE THAT FEATURE.
IN ADDITION TO JUST THE NEW
THINGS YOU WILL SEE ON THE
*EURPT FACE, WE HAVE NEW
RETRIEVAL FEATURES.
IN THE NEW PUBMED WE ENHANCED
THIS SINON ME, AND I WILL
MENTION THE THINGS IN MY SLIDES,
I WILL SHOW YOU IN A LAY DEMO,
WE ENHANCED THE BRITISH-AMERICAN
MAPPING OF TERMS WHICH SOMETHING
PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR FOR
A LONG TIME.
WE HAVE UNLIMITITTED TRUNCATION
IN CURRENT PRODUCTION PUBMED,
YOU MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW THAT
TRUNCATION IS LIMITED TO THE 600
WORD ENDINGS FOUND IN THE DATA
BAGS, WE NOW HAVE UNLIMITED
TRUNCATION IN THE NEW PUBMED.
WE HAVE CITATION SENSORS YOU CAN
PUT IN PART OF A CITATION, THE
CITATION DETAILS AND AUTHOR
JOURNAL, DATES PART OF THE
ARTICLE TITLE AND WE CAN
RETRIEVE THE KNOWN ITEM YOU'RE
LOOKING FOR AND THOSE SENSORS
ARE IMPROVING ALL THE TIME AND
ARE IMPROVED BEST MATCH SORT
ORDER OR RETRIEVAL WILL BRING
THE BEST RESULTS TO THE TOP OF
YOUR SEARCH RESULTS AND THIS IS
ANOTHER FEATURE THAT IMPROVES
ALL THE TIME.
I WANT TO TALK A LITTLE BIT
ABOUT TIMING BECAUSE THIS IS THE
QUESTION WE GET A LOT AND WHILE
WE'RE HERE, I WILL MENTION THAT
A LOT OF THE MATERIAL IN THIS
PRESENTATION, A LOT OF THE
SLIDES IN THE DEMO ARE REALLY
INFORMED BY THE QUESTIONS THAT
WE'RE GETTING IN CUSTOMER
SERVICE AND FEEDBACK THAT WE'RE
GETTING THROUGH THE PUBMED LAB
WEBSITE RIGHT NOW SO BASICALLY,
I KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE ASKING
ABOUT AND ONE OF THE THINGS
THEY'RE ASKING ABOUT IS TIMING.
SO I JUST WANT TO TALK ABOUT
THAT HERE.
IN OCTOBER NLM WILL FORMALLY
ANNOUNCE THE NEW PUBMED, RIGHT
NOW WE HAVE A LAB WEBSITE THAT
WE ARE HOPING PEOPLE TO
ENCOURAGE USING AND IN OCTOBER
IT WILL BE FORMALLILY ANNOUNCED
AS BEING THE NEW PUBMED AND THEN
IN EARLY 2020 WE ARE ANTICIPATE
THAGOREAN IT WILL BECOME THE
DEFAULT.
WHEN THE NEW PUBMED IS THE
DEFAULT WEBSITE, BOTH THE LEGACY
AND NEW PUBMED SYSTEMS
WILL RUN IN PARALLEL FOR SEVERAL
MONTHS.
AND THEN EVENTUALLY LEGACY
PUBMED WILL BE RETIRED.
AND I JUST WANT TO MAKE THE
POINT THAT WHILE WE'RE TALKING
ABOUT RETIREMENT OF OLD PUBMED,
AND MAKING THE NEW PUBMED THE
DEFAULT AND MAKING SURE EVERYONE
KNOWS THAT'S NOT THE END, THAT'S
JUST THE BEGINNING, WE'VE MOVED
PUBMED INTO A NEW INFRASTRUCTURE
AND YOU'RE REALLY SETTING THIS
STAGE TO CONTINUE WHAT WE'VE
ALWAYS DONE WHICH IS TO IMPROVE
PUBMED ALL THE TIME ITERATIVELY,
USING USER FEEDBACK.
SO THIS ISN'T GOING TO BE PUBMED
IS DONE, WE WRAP IT UP AND MOVE
ON, THIS WILL BE WE RELEASE
PUBMED, THE NEW PUBMED AS THE
DEFAULT AND THEN IT'S BUSINESS
AS USUAL WHERE WE ARE ALWAYS
INCORPORATING NEW FEATURES,
WE'RE ALWAYS TRYING TO ADD MORE
DATA, SO JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS
IT'S EVOLVING, IT WILL CONTINUE
TO EVOLVE, PUBMED IS NEVER DONE.
OTHER QUESTIONS WE'VE GOTTEN,
SOME FOLKS LIKE TO START THEIR
SEARCH IN THE MESH DATABASE,
LOOK AT THE TERM AND MAYBE CLICK
THE BOXES TO SELECT SUBHEADINGS
OR USE THE SINGLE CITATION
MATCHER AND THEY'RE ASKING WHERE
THOSE ARE IN PUBMED.
SO I JUST WANT TO MENTION THAT
THOSE THINGS WILL REMAIN IN
PLACE AND WHEN THE NEW
PUBMED BECOMES THE DEFAULT,
THESE SYSTEMS WILL DIRECT TO THE
NEW SYSTEM BY DEFAULT AS WELL.
SO THE DAY YOU GO TO WORK IN
PUBMED AND YOU GO TO PUBMED AND
GET TO A NEW PUBMED, THAT'S THE
DAY THAT YOUR SINGLE CITATION
MATCHER QUERY WILL RESOLVE TO
THE NEW PUBMED AS WELL.
SO NONE OF THAT'S GOING AWAY,
IT'S JUST THAT WE'RE ONLY
POINTING IT AT ONE PLACE AT A
TIME, RIGHT NOW IT'S POINTING TO
LEGACY PUBMED AND WHATEVER
PUBMED IS THE DEFAULT WHEN THE
NEW ONE'S DEFAULT, IT WILL POINT
THERE. MY NCBI AS WELL, IF YOU
HAVE A MYNCBI ACCOUNT WHICH I
STRONGLY RECOMMEND, IT ALLOWS
YOU NOT ONLY CUSTOMIZE YOUR
PUBMED EXPERIENCE BUT SAVE
SEARCHES AND BUILD COLLECTIONS
AND SAVE YOUR SEARCH HISTORY FOR
SIX MONTHS.
MYNCBI WILL ALSO DIRECT TO THE
NEW PUBMED.
SOME OF THE FEATURES ARE ALREADY
THERE, LIKE YOUR CUSTOMIZED
FILTERS, CAN YOU ALREADY
ACTIVATE IN THE NEW PUBMED.
BUT YOUR SAVED SEARCHES AREN'T
GOING AWAY AND THAT'S A QUESTION
WE GET QUITE A BIT.
SO SAVE SEARCHES WON'T NEED TO
BE REBUILT, ALERTS WON'T NEED TO
BE RECREATED.
WE'RE BUILDING A NEW PUBMED API,
IF YOU USE API, YOU MIGHT BE
FAMILIAR WITH THE UTILITY SUITE
OF APIs AND NOW WE'RE BUILDING
A NEW API THAT'S UNDER
DEVELOPMENT AND IN THE EARLY
STAGES, I DON'T HAVE A WHOLE LOT
MORE TO SAY ABOUT THAT EXCEPT
THAT IT'S COMING.
AND THEN THIS FINAL BULLET AND
MORE IS JUST MY WAY OF REPEATING
THAT OF COURSE, WE'RE GOING TO
CONTINUE TO EVOLVE, WE'RE
ACTUALLY STILL PRIORITIZING
DEVELOPMENT.
WE'RE STILL LOOKING AT USABILITY
RESULTS, WE'RE LOOKING AT
ANALYTICS AND THINKING ABOUT
IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE FUTURE.
RIGHT NOW WE'RE FOCUSED ON
TRANSITIONING THIS TO BE THE
DEFAULT BUT OF COURSE THE
DEVELOPMENT WILL CONTINUE AFTER
THE DEFAULT.
SO DON'T THINK IT'S FROZEN, IT
WILL NEVER BE DONE.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT POINTS
I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE TODAY IS
THAT PUBMED BEST PRACTICES FOR
SEARCHING HAVE NOT CHANGED AND
SO I THINK THERE'S CONCERN THAT
PUBMED SEARCHING IS DIFFERENT
AND IT'S NOT, WE STILL WANT OUR
USERS TO COME TO PUBMED AND
ENTER THEIR SEARCH TERMS INTO
THE SEARCH BOX USING THE
LANGUAGE THAT THEY KNOW.
WE WANT USERS TO BE SPECIFIC AND
YOU KNOW PRECISION SEARCHING
WILL RESULT IN PRECISION
RESULTS.
SO FOR THE MOST RELEVANT
RESULTS, YOU WANT TO BE
SPECIFIC, YOU WANT TO THINK
ABOUT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF
YOUR SEARCH OR CONCEPTS YOU NEED
TO INCLUDE IN YOUR SEARCH.
WE WANT TO YOU START YOUR
SEARCHING IN PUBMED WITH NO
PUNCTUATION AND NO SEARCH TAG.
THERE ARE A LOT OF POWERFUL
MAPPING AND SENSORS AND FUZZY
LOGIC AND THINGS GOING ON THERE,
IN PUBMED THAT WE REALLY DON'T
WANT YOU TO OVERRIDE.
DON'T USE BOOLEAN OPERATORS AND
I SAY AND OF COURSE IF YOU WOULD
LIKE TO OR TOGETHER SEVERAL
DISEASES OR TREATMENT OPTIONS,
YOU CAN PUT THEM IN A STRING
WITH OR BETWEEN THEM IN
PARENTHESES AND IF YOU ARE USED
TO NESTING YOUR BOOLEAN, I WON'T
TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU.
BUT WHEN PEOPLE COME TO PUBMED
NEW, I REALLY LIKE FOR THEM TO
JUST START BY TYPING IN WHAT
THEY'RE LOOKING FOR IN THE
SEARCH BOX AND SEE WHAT THEY
GET.
AVOID TRUNCATION, AS I SAID,
PRECISION SEARCHING, RETRIEVES
PRECISION RESULTS, YOU WILL ALSO
FIND, I TALKED ABOUT INCREASED
AND IMPROVED SYNONOMY, AND I
WILL SHOW YOU SEARCH DETAILS
WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE
IMPROVEMENT IN THE SINGULAR TO
PLURAL MAPPING OR THE DIFFERENT
WORD ENDINGS THAT WE'RE ADDING
BY DEFAULT BECAUSE WE HAVE
ENHANCED THE SYNONOMY, AND I
TELL PEOPLE TO AVOID TRUNCATING
IN PUBMED AND LET OUR CITATION
SENSOR WHICH INCLUDES TITLE
SENSOR BUT LET THE SENSORS WORK
FOR YOU.
WE'VE DONE A LOT OF WORK
BUILDING PUBMED SO THAT IT WILL
RETRIEVE GOOD RESULTS FOR AND
YOU WE LIKE FOLKS TO START BY
NOT OVERRIDING ALL OF THE
INTELLIGENCE IN PUBMED.
SO WITH THAT PREAMBLE, I WILL
NOW GET INTO A DEMO.
I HAVE THE URL FOR THE NEW
PUBMED UP THERE.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO OPEN A
BROWSER WINDOW, IT MIGHT BE MORE
FUN.
IT'S FRIDAY AFTERNOON, YOU MIGHT
WANT TO FOLLOW ALONG AND DO SOME
OF YOUR OWN SEARCHING AS I GO.
THERE'S THE URL FOR YOU AND I DO
WANT TO LEAVE TIME FOR QUESTIONS
SO THE DEMO I REALLY WANT TO
FOCUS ON, SEARCHING FOR KNOWN
ITEMS SEARCHING BY AUTHOR AND
SEARCHING BY SUBJECT BECAUSE
THESE ARE THE THINGS WE KNOW
FOLKS ARE DOING IN PUBMED.
SO I'M GOING TO GO TO MY PUBMED
WINDOW.
OKAY, HERE WE ARE IN THE NEW
PUBMED WHICH RIGHT NOW AS A BIT
OF A LANGUAGE ABOUT PUBMED'S
LABS BECAUSE IT'S STILL A TEST
SITE UNTIL IT IS FORMALLY
ANNOUNCED BY NLM, CAN YOU
CONSIDER IT A TEST SITE.
HOWEVER THIS IS WHAT IT'S GOING
TO LOOK LIKE.
THIS IS THE HOME PAGE THAT'S
BEEN APPROVED.
THE INTERFACE THAT MIGHT GET
TWEAKED A LITTLE BIT AT THE LAST
MINUTE, BUT THIS IS WHAT IT WILL
LOOK LIKE, SO IF YOU'RE
WONDERING HOW CLOSE THIS ONE IS
TO LOOKING LIKE THE FINAL NEW
PUBMED, THIS IS IT.
ANOTHER QUESTION WE GET IS
WHETHER THIS IS TAPPING INTO THE
SAME PUBMED DATABASE AND ALL THE
PUBMED DATA, THIS IS THE SAME
PUBMED DATABASE.
THIS IS MORE THAN 30 MILLION
CITATIONS AND SO, IT'S THE SAME
PUBMED AND THIS IS WHAT IT WILL
LOOK LIKE WHEN IT'S ANNOUNCED AS
THE NEW PUBMED.
HERE'S A BANNER THAT SAYS IT'S A
TEST SITE.
I'M GOING TO CLOSE THAT TO GET
MORE SPACE.
I AM LOGGED INTO MY NCBI ACCOUNT
AGAIN IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE, I
HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING A SECOND
JUST TO REGISTER FOR A FREE
ACCOUNT.
YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PUBMED HOME
PAGE, CAN YOU GO TO THE ADVANCE
SEARCH IF YOU LIKE AND WE WILL
GO THERE A BIT LATER.
WE HAVE AREAS UNDER THE SEARCH
BOX, WHERE YOU CAN LEARN, THIS
WILL BE EVOLVING, THIS WILL
BE--NEW LINKS WILL BE ADDED
MAYBE SOME OF THESE LINKS WILL
BE NAMED, I DON'T KNOW.
HOWEVER, CAN YOU GET AN IDEA OF
WHAT'S HERE, CAN YOU GET TO THE
SINGLE CITATION MATCHER, EXPLORE
THE MESH DATABASE OR THE JOURNAL
CATALOG, WE WILL HAVE ACCESS TO
THE NEW API, RIGHT NOW CAN YOU
LINK TO THAT UTILITY API, WE
HAVE THE USER GUIDE.
UNDER THOSE HEADINGS WE WILL
HAVE TRAINING THAT'S LINKED FROM
THE LEARNED AREA OF THE SCREEN
SO LOOK FOR THIS TO JUST BE MORE
AND MORE ROBUST OVER TIME.
WE HAVE THE FEATURES THAT ARE ON
THE CURRENT PUBMED HOME PAGE.
WE HAVE TRENDING ARTICLES AND
LATEST LITERATURE, WE HAVE THE
LINK TO THE SUPPORT CENTER ASK
THE RIGHT NOW IN PUBMED LABS WE
HAVE A FEEDBACK BUTTON WHICH IS
A GREEN BUTTON THAT FOLLOWS YOU
AROUND.
AND THAT STAYS WITH YOU ON EVERY
SCREEN AND THAT'S THE BEST LINK
TO USE IF YOU WANT TO CLICK ON
THAT AND ASK A QUESTION AT THE
HELP DESK YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE
DOING A RESEARCH AND CLICK ON
THOSE RESULTS AND CLICK ON THAT
BUTTON TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS
ABOUT LABS.
SO HAVING SAID THAT, I WILL
START SEARCHING.
SO I WILL GO AHEAD AND START, AS
I SAID I WANT TO TALK ABOUT
KNOWN ITEM SEARCHING AND AUTHOR
SEARCHING, SUBJECT SEARCHING SO
I WILL START WITH A KNOWN ITEM
SEARCH.
SO WHEN TALK ABOUT USING THE
CITATION SENSOR, IF YOU HAVE
SOME OF THE INFORMATION FROM A
CITATION IN PUBMED FOR EXAMPLE,
AN AUTHOR NAME AND JOURNAL AND A
PUBLICATION DATE BECAUSE SOMEONE
SAID BENJAMIN NEAL PUBLISHED
SOMETHING IN SCIENCE IN 2019,
CAN YOU GET THAT ARTICLE FOR ME,
CAN YOU GO AHEAD AND SEARCH
PUBMED AND THAT WILL OFTEN
TRIGGER THE CITATION MATCHER.
SO YOU CAN SEE THAT THIS SAYS TO
USE THIS FOUND ONE ARTICLE BY
CITATION MATCHING, IT STILL
GIVES YOU THE REST OF THE
RESULTS THAT MEET THE CRITERIA
OF THE SEARCH, SO HAVE YOU THE
REST OF THE RESULTS AND YOU CAN
SORT OF YOU KNOW SCROLL THROUGH
AND IF WE DO THIS IN MOST RECENT
ORDER, I THINK YOU CAN SEE THAT
THE ARTICLE THAT WAS FOUND BY
CITATION MATCHING IS ALSO PART
OF YOUR FULLER RESULT SET HERE.
THIS IS SORT OF YOUR FULL
RESULTS BUT THEN IT KIND OF
PULLS ONE UP TO THE TOP AND
SAYS, HEY, I THINK THIS REALLY
MATCHES WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING
FOR AND INDEED IT DOES.
THIS IS THE ARTICLE I WAS
LOOKING FOR FROM SCIENCE THIS
YEAR.
WHILE I'M HERE ON THIS SINGLE
CITATION, I WANT TO SHOW YOU
THAT--ACTUALLY I MIGHT WAIT.
I MIGHT WAIT.
I WILL TALK ABOUT AUTHOR
SEARCHING IN A LITTLE BIT.
I HAVE MY SEARCH RESULTS I HAVE
MY SINGLE CITATION THAT WAS
RETRIEVED, NOW I'M SCROLLING
THROUGH THESE RESULTS.
AND IF I WERE TO HAVE, INSTEAD
OF HAVING HAD A LITTLE BIT OF
THE CITATION INFORMATION, LET'S
SAY I HAD PART OF A TITLE OR THE
WHOLE TITLE OF AN ARTICLE.
I COULD JUST AS EASILY TYPE IN
ALL OR MOST OF, ACTUALLY IT'S
SIX OR MORE WORDS FROM THE
TITLE, IF I TYPE THAT IN, IT'S
GOING TO ALSO FIND IT BY
CITATION MATCHING BECAUSE I HAD
THE MAJORITY OF THE TITLE IN
THERE, SO FOR PEOPLE WHO USE THE
SINGLE CITATION MATCHER BECAUSE
MAYBE THAT HAVE A LIST OF TITLES
AND THEY NEED TO VERIFY CITATION
INFORMATION, PMIDs FOR A LIST
OF ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ARTICLES, I THINK
IF YOU'RE NOT AWARE OF THIS,
IT'S A GREAT TOOL TO USE, SO
JUST GO AHEAD AND COPY AND
PASTE THE TITLE INTO PUBMED AND
FIND THOSE KNOWN ITEMS.
SO THE NEXT THING I WANT ON DO
IS SEARCH FOR AUTHORS.
SO I WILL GO AHEAD--I WILL GO
AHEAD AND TYPE IN AN AUTHOR
NAME.
WE STILL RECOMMEND THE BEST
PRACTICE FOR SEARCHING FOR
AUTHORS IS LAST NAME AND
INITIAL, ONE OR TWO INITIALS,
ALTHOUGH WE DO HAVE A FULL
AUTHOR INDEX.
THE AUTHOR HAS TO HAVE HAD THEIR
FULL NAME IN THE PUBLICATION IN
ORDER TO SEARCH THAT WAY, SO
FIELD FUNCTIONS WERE TO SEARCH
FOR FAGERNESS JUSTIN, IF THE
JOURNAL ONLY PROVIDED THE FIRST
INITIAL, I WILL NOT GET THAT HIT
BECAUSE JUSTIN IS NOT ANYWHERE
IN THE DATA IN PUBMED.
SO EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE A FULL
AUTHOR INDEX, IT MIGHT NOT BE
COMPLETE BECAUSE SO MANY ARE
PUBLISHING WITH LAST NAME OR
FIRST INITIAL OR TWO INITIALS,
SO I WILL GO AHEAD AND RUN THIS
SEARCH.
AND THIS IS THE FAGERNESS J THEY
WAS LOOKING FOR, SO I WILL LOOK
AT THIS SINGLE CITATION AND
WHILE I'M IN HERE, I WANT TO SHOW
YOU WHAT YOU WILL SEE IN THE NEW
PUBMED WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING AT A
SINGLE CITATION.
AS YOU KNOW IN PUBMED IF YOU
USED IT BEFORE, THE OPTIONS
AVAILABLE, WHAT YOU SEE ON YOUR
SCREEN, VARIES A LITTLE BIT
WHETHER YOU'RE LOOKING AT A
SINGLE CITATION OR ENTIRE
RESULTS LIST.
SO FROM HERE, I WANT TO POINT
OUT, WE HAVE THIS LABEL BY THE
CITATION DATA THAT TELLS YOU
THIS IS A META-ANALYSIS.
I WOULD LIKE--SEVERAL OF THE
PUBLICATION TYPES WILL BE
HIGHLIGHTED HERE, CLINICAL
TRIALS META-ANALYSIS,
SYSTEMAATIC REVIEW, REVIEW AND
IT'S NICE TO SEE THAT RIGHT
THERE, YOU KNOW RIGHT AWAY WITH
THE TYPE OF ARTICLE IS.
IF I MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT, YOU
CAN SEE THAT I HAVE MY FULL TEXT
LINKS, I CAN GO TO WILY TO GET
THE FREE FULL TEXT, THIS
ARTICLE'S ALSO AVAILABLE IN
PUBMED CENTRAL SO THAT ICON
APPEARS THERE.
I'VE LOGGED IN WITH A SPECIAL
URL.
I'VE GOTTEN TO PUBMED THROUGH A
SPECIAL URL THAT ACTIVATED TWO
OUTSIDE TOOLS.
I'VE ACTIVATED NIH LIBRARY WHERE
I LEGITIMATELY HAVE ACCESS TO
SUBSCRIPTIONS BECAUSE THAT'S
WHERE I WORK.
I ALSO WENT AHEAD AND ACTIVATED
BY--GOT MY UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE
FOR FUN AND YOU WILL SEE THAT
THEY USE GENERIC 360 LINK ICON
BUT IT'S KIND OF NICE THAT I CAN
HOVER OVER AND SEE THAT YES,
THAT'S THE UNIVERSITY THAT I'M
LOOKING FOR.
IF I CLICK ON THAT TODAY, I
WON'T GET IN, THEY WILL ASK ME
FOR A NAME AND PASSWORD AND NAME
AND THEN OF COURSE, I'M NOT
AFFILIATED, BUT IF I WERE
AFFILIATED WITH MIT AND HARVARD,
AND MASS GENERAL, I COULD ALL OF
THOSE ICONS ON THIS SCREEN AND
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL OF THOSE
SUBSCRIPTIONS.
WE HAVE A CITE BUTTON I'M NOT
SURE IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH
THIS BUT IT'S IN PMC, YOU CAN
COPY THE TEXT, DOWNLOAD IT TO AN
RIS FILE OR CHANGE THE FORMAT TO
MLA, APA OR THE NLM CITATION
FORMAT.
IF YOU ARE SIGNED INTO YOUR MY
NCBI ACCOUNT, CAN YOU SAVE THIS
CITATION TO YOUR FAVORITES.
YOU CAN ALSO SHARE TO TWITTER,
FACEBOOK OR GRAB A PERMA LINK
THAT YOU COULD SLAP INTO YOUR IM
SYSTEM OR AN E-MAIL OR YOU KNOW
IF YOU WANT TO SEND IT THROUGH
SLACKER JABBER, OR GRAB THE
CITATION, CAN YOU DO WHAT YOU
WANT WITH IT.
THE PAGE CITATION BAR WILL LET
YOU JUMP TO SECTIONS OF THE
PAGE, I CAN GO TO CERTAIN
ARTICLES, I CAN GO RIGHT TO THE
MESH TERM, WHILE I'M LOOKING AT
THE MESH TERMS YOU CAN SEE WE
ADDED THE FUNCTIONALITY THAT'S
IN CURRENT PUBMED.
WE HAVE A KEY WORD DROP DOWN
TOGGLE MENU, SO CAN YOU CLICK ON
THAT IS MESH TERM AND SEARCH
EITHER IN PUBMED OR MESH OR YOU
CAN ADD IT TO THIS SEARCH, SO
CAN YOU SORT OF BUILD THE SEARCH
FROM HERE, STARTING WITH SOME OF
THESE MESH TERMS WITHOUT HAVING
TO TYPE THEM IN.
THE SAME THING IS TRUE IF WE'RE
LOOKING AT THE JOURNAL TITLE,
YOU CAN LICK HERE AND SEARCH IN
PUBMED OR THE NLM CATAING LOG OR
ADD IT TO A SEARCH IF YOU WANT
TO LIMIT IT TO THE SEARCH TO
JUST THIS JOURNAL.
WE HAVE THE FEATURES FOR SAVING,
SEARCHING AND E-MAILING BUT I
WILL TALK ABOUT THOSE WHEN WE
GET TO A FULLER SEARCH RESULTS
LIST.
SO NOW THAT WE'VE TALKED ABOUT
AUTHOR SEARCHING A LITTLE BIT.
I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD AND DO A
SUBJECT RESEARCH.
SO I HAVE A SUBJECT SEARCH HERE
AND I HAVE MY RESULTS.
YOU CAN SEE WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE
FULL RESULTS BECAUSE A HAVE AN
MY NCBI ACCOUNT, THE FILTERS ARE
THERE FOR ME.
THERE IS A RESULT BY YEAR GRAPH,
THAT EXPANDS NOW.
YOU CAN SORT OF SEE TRENDS IN
LITERATURE, THIS ALSO ALLOWS TO
YOU ACTUALLY START REDUCING YOUR
SEARCH TO CERTAIN YEAR RANGES.
SO I CAN SAY OH I WANT TO LOOK
AT 2011-2013, CAN YOU DO THAT
WITH THE SLIDERS O YOU CAN
EXPAND YOUR SEARCH.
SO I PUT THE RESULTS BY YEAR
BACK.
I CAN ALSO ASSIGN, I CAN APPLY
FILTERS, I CAN SAY, OKAY, I ONLY
WANT THREE FULL TEXT.
OR I CAN SAY, I ONLY WANT
REVIEWS BECAUSE I JUST NEED TO
GET UP TO SPEED ON THIS TOPIC
VERY QUICKLY.
AND I CAN RESTRICT, I CAN DO
FREE FULL TEXT AND GET A QUICK
REVIEW,
IF I WANTED TO I
COULD CUSTOMIZE THIS FILTERS
MENU, I ALREADY ADDED CASE
REPORTS, CASE REPORTS WAS THERE
BECAUSE EARLIER I ADDED CASE
REPORTS I COULD DESELECT IT BUT
SOMETIMES I LIKE TO HAVE
CASE REPORTS ON THERE.
MAYBE I WANT TO ADD MULTICENTER
STUDY, SO IF I APPLY THOSE
PUBLICATION TYPES, YOU WILL SEE
THAT NOW THAT'S ANOTHER OPTION
ON MY FILTERS MENU.
I WILL GO AHEAD AND ACTUALLY--I
COULD RESET THEM ALL.
OKAY, SO I CLEARED MY FILTERS.
FROM THE RESULTS LIST AS WELL, I
COULD GRAB A COUPLE OF THESE
ITEMS AND I CAN SAVE THEM TO A
FILE.
I CAN CHOOSE TO SAVE THE
SELECTION OR ALL THE RESULTS ON
THIS PAGE OR ALL THE RESULTS OF
MY SEARCH, AND THEN I CAN CHOOSE
THE TYPE OF FILE.
I CAN SAY I WANT THE SUMMARY
FORMAT OR AN RIS FEED, PMID LIST
OR THE ABSTRACT FEED WHICH HAS A
BIT MORE DETAIL THAN YOU'RE
SEEING HERE.
I CAN E-MAIL THE RESULTS BECAUSE
I'M LOGGED INTO MY NCBI, IT
PLUGS IN MY E-MAIL CRAZY
AUTOMATICALLY AND IT ALSO KNOWS
I'M NOT A ROBOT.
SO IF YOU ARE NOT LOGGED INTO MY
NCBI, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO CLICK ON
THE PICTURES OF THE FOREST IN
THE GRID WHICH IS ANOTHER
SELLING POINT FOR GETTING A MY
NCBI ACCOUNT.
I CAN ALSO SEND IT TO A
CLIPBOARD.
I WILL GO AHEAD AND DO THAT, I
ADDED TWO ITEMS TO THE CLIPBOARD
AND I GO TO THE CLIPBOARD PAGE,
IT TELLS ME IT EXSPIRES AFTER
EIGHT HOURS OF INACTIVITY, IF
YOU HAVE AN MY NCBI ACCOUNT AND
YOU BUILD SELECTIONS, THOSE DO
NOT EXPIRE.
THE REASON I WANTED TO SHOW YOU
THIS IF I GO BACK TO--IF I GO
BACK TO MY RESULTS PAGE, YOU
WILL SEE UPDATERNEATH THE SEARCH
BAR NOW, THE ADVANCE SEARCH AND
CREATE ALERT, THERE'S A
CLIPBOARD THERE NOW SO KIGET TO
IT PRETTY EASILY.
IN ADDITION I CAN SEND THINGS TO
MY COLLECTION OR BIBLIOGRAPHY AS
I SAID.
I CAN CHANGE FROM BEST MATCH TO
MOST RECENT OR BACK.
THAT'S A VERY EASY TOGGLE NOW BY
DEFAULT OF BEST MATCH BUT I CAN
SWITCH IT TO MOST RECENT IF I
LIKE AND I CAN CHANGE THE
DISPLAY, KIEITHER DO THE SUMMARY
DISPLAY WHICH YOU SEE NOW OR THE
ABSTRACT.
YOU WILL NOTICE IN THIS SUMMARY
ABSTRACT, I MEAN IN THIS SUMMARY
DISPLAY THAT THERE ARE THESE
SNIPITS WITH HIGHLIGHTED TEXT
SHOWING YOU WHERE YOUR TERMS
MATCHED THIS CITATION, SO CAN
YOU SEE YOUR SEARCH TERMS MY
LIGHTED AND IT KIND OF GIVES YOU
A QUICK VIEW OF WHY THIS WAS
RETURNED AND IT LETS YOU READ
INTO IT A LITTLE BIT WITHOUT
ACTUALLY CLICKING ON THE
CITATION AND GOING INTO THE
ARTICLE.
IF I DO CLICK ON ONE OF THESE
ARTICLES, SO NOW I'M BACK AT THE
VIEW OF A SINGLE CITATION, AGAIN
IT'S SHOWING ME A REVIEW ARTICLE
RIGHT UP HERE BY THE ACTUAL
CITATION, I CAN EXPAND THE
AUTHOR DETAILS WHICH GIVES ME
THE AUTHORS AND THEIR
AFFILIATIONS.
I CAN ALSO--THIS IS ANOTHER
PIECE OF THE NAVIGATION THAT I
DIDN'T MENTION EARLIER, WE NOW
HAVE THIS PREVIOUS AND NEXT SET
OF BUTTONS HERE SO THAT WE CAN
GO DIRECTLY FROM THE RESULT
WE'RE LOOKING AT.
WE REQUEST ANY THROUGH RESULTS
WITHOUT HAVING TO GO BACK TO THE
FULL FULL RESULTS LIST TO PICK
THE NEXT ONE.
ASK SO IT MAKES IT A BIT EASIER
AND AS YOU'RE MOVING TO THE NEXT
ONE IT POPS UP A LITTLE
HIGHLIGHT OF WHAT YOU WILL GET
TO NEXT.
ALL RIGHT SO I DO WANT TO THINK
I SHOW YOU SEARCHES, WE GET
ADVANCED SEARCH BECAUSE WE GET A
LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT FROM
OUR ADVANCED USERS, I THINK
PEOPLE EITHER DON'T KNOW THERE'S
AN ADVANCED SEARCH OR THEY USE
IT ALL DAY SEEMS TO BE MY SENSE
OF IT.
SO WE'LL GO TO ADVANCE SEARCH,
I WILL DELETE THIS SEARCH
HISTORY BECAUSE I HAVEN'T DONE
ANYTHING VERY STRATEGIC HERE,
I'VE BEEN SORT OF TYPING THINGS
INTO THE SEARCH BOX.
SO YOU CAN--THIS PAGE HAS A
SEARCH HISTORY, YOU CAN DELETE
IT AT ANY TIME AND START OVER.
I COULD HAVE IF I WANTED TO SAVE
IT I COULD HAVE DOWNLOADED INTO
A CSV FILE.
I WILL GO AHEAD AND SEARCH FROM
HERE FOR A MINUTE JUST TO SHOW
YOU SOME OF THE FEATURES OF
ADVANCED SEARCH.
SO, IF I SEARCH FOR PEDIATRIC
FOR EXAMPLE, I CAN ADD THAT TO
MY QUERY BOX AND IT'S FROM THE
QUERY BOX THAT I EXECUTE MY
SEARCH.
NOW THERE'SA I SEARCH BUTTON
HERE BUT IT'S ALSO A SPLIT
BUTTON BUT IT'S ALSO ONE OF THE
ELEMENTS WE HAVE
BEEN ABLE TO INCORPORATE HERE
WHERE WE HAVE THE FLIP BUTTON
AND WE CAN ADD THIS TO THE
HISTORY AND NOW I MADE MY
DEFAULT SELECTION TO HISTORY AND
SO FROM NOW ON WE WILL WORK ON
THE ADVANCE PAGE.
IF I LEFT IT AT SEARCH IT WOULD
HAVE GONE BACK TO THE SEARCH
PAGE BUT I KIND OF WANT TO STAY
IN ADVANCE SEARCH RESULTS AND I
DID A SEARCH FOR PEDIATRIC.
YOU CAN SEE, WHEN I TALKED ABOUT
THE ADVANCE--ENHANCED BRITISH TO
AMERICAN MAP ACCIDENT, YOU CAN
SEE YOU HAVE THE BRITISH
SPELLING, PLURALS AND SYNONYMS,
PLURALS AND SINGULARS HERE,
THERE ARE SOME OTHER TERMS
SHOW YOU SOMETHING.
I ALSO WANT TO SAY IF YOU'RE A
PUBMED USER LIKE I AM THAT USES
PUBMED EVERY DAY, I'M AT I POINT
NOW WHERE IN LABS I'VE USE TODAY
HEAVILY FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS
AND NOW I LOOKED FOR WHEN I AM
IN PRODUCTION OF PUBMED, I AM
LOOKING FOR SEARCH DETAILS ON
THE ADVANCED PAGE.
SO THIS HAS BECOME VERY
INTUITIVE.
I'LL ADD THIS HERE, I WILL ADD
IT TO MY HISTORY, CAN YOU SEE
THAT THIS MAPPING FOR
PARKINSON'S, IT HAS PARKINSONS,
OR PARKINSON MAPS TO THE MESH
IT'S ALSO MAPPING TO
PARKINSONIAN DISORDERS,
PARKINSONIAN, PARKINSONISMS,
PARKINONS WITH AN APOSTROPHE,
SINGULAR SO IF WE DO THIS ... OR
WE DO THIS, OUR RESULTS ARE THE
SAME WHICH IS WHAT YOU WOULD
EXPECT FROM PARKINSONS.
IF YOU DON'T KNOW IF IT'S A
PLURAL OR SINGULAR, IT HAS AN
APOSTROPHE, YOU SHOULD
ESPECIALLY, YOUR BEDSIDE, YOUR
CLINICIAN OR PATIENT ADVOCATE,
YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO THINK
ABOUT WHICH ENDING TO USE TO GET
WHICH RESULTS AND I THINK THE
MAPPING HERE IS MUCH BETTER.
YOU CAN DO LEWY BODY, YOU
SEE THE TRANSLATION THERE, WE
MAPPING TO THE MESH STILL.
AND THEN CAN YOU STILL DO WHAT
WE'VE DONE IN THE PAST WHICH IS
TO BUILD A SEARCH FROM ADVANCED
SEARCH WHERE YOU ADD THE QUERY
TO THE SEARCH BOX AND THEN YOU
CAN SAY, OKAY, I WANT TO ADD
THIS WITH OR AND YOU CAN BUILD
MORE COMPLEX SEARCHES HERE.
WE WILL ADD IT TO THE HISTORY
AND WE WILL LOOK AT OUR SEARCH
DETAILS AND YOU CAN SEE THAT
IT'S INCORPORATING NOW, THE TWO
SMALLER SEARCHES, YOU KNOW YOU
ARE GETTING ALL THE DETAILS IN
ONE SPOT.
IF YOU WANT TO SEE, WE CAN
DO--I'M SEARCHING HERE AND WE
WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AT THE SEARCH
INDEX, TELL TELL ME HOW MANY
RESULTS I WILL GO GET FROM THIS
SEARCH AND WHAT THE OTHER
PHRASES ARE THAT ARE IN PUBMED,
SO I KNOW COWS MILK CASEIN IS A
VERY--NOT A LOT OF RESEARCH
APPARENTLY BUT A HOT TOPIC THESE
DAYS.
SO WE HAVE OPTIONS, I CAN CHOOSE
COW'S MILK AND ADD AND EXECUTE
THAT SEARCH.
WE HAVE THE FIELD SELECTOR LIKE
WE'VE ALWAYS HAD SO YOU CAN PICK
THE FIELD THAT YOU WANT TO
SEARCH IN JUST LIKE YOU CAN IN
CURRENT PUBMED SO IF YOU WANT TO
SEARCH FOR ARLS THAT HAVE
SOMETHING AS A MESH MAJOR TOPIC,
CAN YOU STILL SELECT THAT.
YOU CAN SPECIFY ALL THE DATES
THAT YOU'VE BEEN ABLE TO
SPECIFY, YOU CAN DO PUBLICATION
DATES, AND IT'LL GIVE YOU THE
FORMAT THERE, HELPS YOU OUT SO
THAT YOU KNOW WHAT FORMAT IT
WANTS THAT DATE IN, YOU CAN
SEARCH BY AUTHOR, BY FIRST
AUTHOR, SO NONE OF THIS
FUNCTIONALITY IS ANY DIFFERENT.
IT'S BEEN BUILT TO MIRROR
CURRENT PRODUCTION IN PUBMED.
I'M GOING TO GO BACK TO MY
SLIDES FOR A MINUTE
SO I WANT TO TALK ABOUT
COMMUNICATION AND PLANNING
BEFORE WE RUN OUT OF TIME, YOU
CAN WATCH FOR UPDATES IN THE NLM
TECHNICAL BULLETIN, THE NCBI
INSIGHTS BLOG, THE PUBMED HOME
PAGE WILL HAVE BANNERS WHERE
DESIGNING BANNERS NOW WITH NEW
PUBMED TRY IT, THE MESSAGING ON
THE HOME PAGE WILL ESCALATE AS
THAT TRANSITION GETS UNDERWAY,
SO AS WE GET CLOSER TO THAT DATE
IT WILL BE THE DEFAULT AND IT
WILL BE OBVIOUS THAT THAT'S
WHERE WE'RE GOING, WHEN THE NEW
PUBMED IS THE DEFAULT WE WILL
HAVE A BANNER TO LET PEOPLE WHO
HAVEN'T USED PUBMED IN SIX
MONTHS WE WILL HAVE A BANNER TO
SAY YES, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT
PLACE.
THERE WILL BE TRAINING FROM THE
NATIONAL NETWORK OF LIBRARIES OF
MEDICINE SO LOOK FOR THAT.
WE WILL PROBABLY HAVE A LITTLE
BIT MORE OF A TWITTER PRESENCE
FOR THE NEW PUBMED AT THE NLM LEVEL
AND ALSO COMING FROM NCBI. [END]
