NLM Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
NLM provides biomedical literature, both journal articles and books, to US and international libraries from our print and electronic collections.
There are two ways libraries may use our services:
- Libraries can place requests using the NLM Interlibrary Loan Request Portal (www.nlm.nih.gov/illportal). To establish an ILL account with the National Library of Medicine (NLM) or inquire about an existing account, please contact NLM ILL support.
- Libraries participating in DOCLINE may place requests with NLM via DOCLINE. For information about joining DOCLINE (an ILL routing system developed by NLM), see the DOCLINE participation guidelines or contact your Regional Medical Library (RML).
NLM provides access free of charge to numerous books, journals, and other resources. Please see Free Biomedical Literature Resources (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/docline/freehealthlit.html) for more information.
For further information about NLM Interlibrary Loan, please visit our FAQs.
If you have questions or concerns about an existing article request, please contact NLM ILL support OR your DOCLINE lender.
