On August 14, 2015, NLM implemented the coordination of the Intramural NIH designation so that every time the Research Support, N.I.H., Intramural [pt] value is assigned to a journal citation the corresponding Intramural NIH [gr] value is also assigned.

The comprehensive PubMed search to find all journal citations to articles supported by Intramural NIH staff and tagged as such is now:

intramural nih [gr]

This search advice updates the information given in the Intramural Funding Designation in the MEDLINE/PubMed Grant Number Field article. This retrieval set is larger than Research Support, N.I.H., Intramural [pt] alone because the PT value was not introduced until 2005 MeSH and is assigned when Intramural NIH support is acknowledged in the full text of the article. Some articles do not explicitly acknowledge Intramural NIH support yet the manuscripts have been deposited into PMC according to the NIH Public Access Policy requirements or an author has associated a PMID with Intramural support using the NIHMS (manuscript submission system), both of which generate a GR occurrence.
