Date-Range Facet Returns to NLM Digital Collections
NLM Digital Collections has implemented a new date-range facet that allows users to select a specific range of years when searching for our digitized content, which includes books, videos, images, and archival material. This new facet replaces the former date-range slider that is no longer supported with the current version of the discovery platform software.
The date-range options are in the Publication Year facet on the search results page.
Within the Publication Year facet, users can enter years in the Begin and End fields, then click the “Apply limit” link to adjust their search results to display items that fall in that specific range. The range of years then displays within the facet as a graph and a text string with the number of applicable search results. To view the applicable years as a list, open the “Range List” menu, which displays 10 sub-ranges with the number of results for each.
Click on one of the ranges in the list to further narrow search results. The graph and date string will adjust to the newly selected year range.
Click on the “x” next to the year range text string to reset the facet.
Note: If only one item in Digital Collections matches the range selected in the Publication Year facet, the discovery platform will directly navigate to the single item’s page.
