 2004 MLA Meeting Reminder and NLM Invitation

he Annual Meeting of the Medical Library Association (MLA) will be held May 21-26, 2004 in Washington, DC, at the Hilton Washington. Attendees are invited to visit the NLM exhibit booth (May 22-25) to meet NLM staff and see NLM's Web products. The NLM Theater at the booth will feature demonstrations and tutorials on a wide variety of topics. Please see the NLM Theater schedule.

Friends of the NLM Reception at the National Library of Medicine Sunday, May 23, 5:30–8:00 PM Light refreshments. Ticketed event.
The Friends and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) invite you to discover the many ways that women have influenced and enhanced the practice of medicine. The individuals featured in the new exhibition at NLM, Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America's Women Physicians, provides an intriguing glimpse of the broader community of women doctors who are making a difference. The NLM is pleased to present this exhibition honoring the lives and accomplishments of these women in the hope of inspiring a new generation of medical pioneers.

NLM Tours

Public tours of NLM are available Monday-Friday at 1:30 PM Two additional public tours will be available during the conference on Monday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. Tours of the Library originate in the NLM Visitors Center (Room 127, Building 38A). The Lister Hill Center (Building 38A) is just off Center Drive (which intersects with Rockville Pike) on the NIH campus. Hospital Internet Access Task Force to hold Open Forum

The Hospital Internet Access Task Force of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine was formed in May 2003 to identify common IT barriers in hospital libraries and to recommend practical solutions to address these barriers. An Open Forum will be held from 2:30–3:30 PM on Monday, May 24, to provide an opportunity for the Task Force to share their progress to date and to seek input from hospital librarians about additional solutions and strategies, as well as suggestions for how to disseminate this information.
