To Interest and Inform its Worldwide User Group, National Library of Medicine® Launches Facebook Fan Page

The National Library of Medicine (NLM®), an arm of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), announces the debut of its new Facebook Fan Page Monday, March 1, 2010. The goal of the new page is to share news, information, fun facts and important links with interested readers. Click on the "Become a Fan" icon, at the top right of the screen. You'll then be treated to updates in real time, as they're issued.
NLM is the developer of some of the world's largest and most respected electronic information services, and delivers trillions of bytes of data to millions of users daily. It also has a vast collection of more than 12 million items, including about 20,000 contemporary journals from around the world and historical holdings back to the 11th century.
The new Facebook page will post information about all aspects of the Library. Fans will be among the first to know about the latest NLM developments, receive notifications on conferences, guest speakers and other events, and be guided to the vast and various research resources NLM has to offer. They can also read the latest issues of the popular consumer magazine from NLM, NIH MedlinePlus®, and its Spanish/English language counterpart, NIH MedlinePlus Salud. Viewers can browse through historical images and contribute to discussions on future projects, all via their favorite social networking site. The page will also lead users to content from the growing roster of social media sites from NLM.
