Changes in Health Services Research Support at NLM

Changes in Health Services Research Support at NLM. NLM Tech Bull. 2021 May-Jun;(440):e6.

2021 June 03 [posted]

In 2020, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) evaluated the current products and services of the National Information Center on Health Services Research & Health Care Technology (NICHSR) to align with the NLM Strategic Plan and to streamline resources to better serve our users. Based on our evaluation, NLM is implementing changes to make it easier for online health information seekers to find and navigate trusted health services research information. NICHSR will remain as a center located in the Public Services Division (PSD), within NLM's Division of Library Operations, as defined in the legislative mandate, and focused on collecting and disseminating information on health services research, clinical practice guidelines, and healthcare technology. Based on input from the health services research community, NLM will shift to supporting the health services research community through its collections, databases, tools, and services, including PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, NLM Bookshelf, and the Health Policy and Services Research Collection in the NLM Digital Collections. On September 14, 2021, NLM will discontinue the following Health Services Research (HSR) products: (1) HSRProj (Health Services Research Projects in Progress), (2) HSRR (Health Services and Sciences Research Resources), (3) HSRIC (Health Services Research Information Central), and (4) PHPartners (Partners in Information Access for Public Health Workforce).

HSRProj data will be archived and downloadable using the NLM Data Distribution Program.

You can also access HSRProj sources at their organizational websites, including:

We want to thank you for your partnership and support, and we look forward to continuing to work with you to help patients and caregivers make well informed healthcare decisions.
