Smallpox Preparedness | ||
he National Library of Medicine (NLM) is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to make critical full text information on diagnosis and treatment of smallpox available on the Web for use by clinicians, public health professionals, and information specialists. Recently, the "Smallpox and Vaccinia" chapter from Vaccines was added to NLM's/NCBI's (National Center for Biotechnology Information) Bookshelf at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=Books. NLM is also pursuing publisher permission to create full-text versions of many of the important bibliographic references in the "Smallpox and Vaccinia" chapter (if not already available on the Web). Links to full text will be available from the chapter's references section and from the corresponding MEDLINE®/PubMed® or LocatorPlus records. Similar efforts are underway for selected references in Smallpox and Its Eradication, which is now available in full text at http://www.who.int/en/. For more information on bioterrorism preparedness, see http://www.bt.cdc.gov/.
