• Updated UMLS Source Release Documentation
  December 20, 2010
  The 2010AB UMLS Source Release Documentation Web pages are now live. In addition, all Metathesaurus sources are now included in the documentation. A synopsis, statistics, and sample data are included for each source that has been updated in the Metathesaurus since 2008AB. A synopsis is included for older sources. The revised Source Release Documentation homepage provides links to source pages for all Metathesaurus sources.

• UMLSKS Scheduled Downtime
  December 16, 2010
  The UMLSKS will be unavailable on Friday, December 17, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm ET. Both the Web interface and the Web services API will be unavailable during this time. Access for downloading UMLS files, however, will not be affected. UMLS files are available in the "Downloads" area of the UMLS Web site.

• UMLSKS Scheduled Downtime

  The UMLSKS will be unavailable on Wednesday, December 8, from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm ET. Both the Web interface and the Web services API will be unavailable during this time. Access for downloading UMLS files, however, will not be affected. UMLS files are available in the "Downloads" area of the UMLS Web site.

• UMLSKS Retirement, User Reporting
  December 6, 2010
  The UMLSKS will be retired on January 31, 2011. To retain access to UMLS-related applications and UMLS resources, you must request a new license through the UTS ("Sign Up") and activate your account. The Sign Up link is located in the upper right corner of the UTS homepage.
  
  The UMLS Annual Report and semi-annual IHTSDO Affiliate License Statement of Account (for SNOMED CT® use) are due on January 31, 2011. You must complete the reporting requirements through the UTS after requesting a license and activating your UTS account. Details are available in the NLM Technical Bulletin.

• UMLS Terminology Services (Beta)
  December 2, 2010
  The UMLS Terminology Services (UTS) beta version is now available. The UTS, which will soon replace the UMLSKS, includes a new license request interface and incorporates the browsing and API features of the UMLSKS. Details are available in the NLM Technical Bulletin.
  
  New UMLS users must request a new license through the UTS ("Sign Up") and access the UTS for all browsing purposes.

  The updated SNOMED CT Core Subset is available for download.

  An October 2010 revision of the SNOMED CT to ICD-9-CM Cross Map is available for download.

• New UMLS License and License Interface; New UMLS Terminology Services

  NLM is working to improve access to UMLS resources. This Fall several major changes will affect all UMLS licensees: an updated license agreement, a new license interface, and the new UMLS Terminology Services (UTS). Details are available in the NLM Technical Bulletin.

  The SNOMED CT: International Release, July 2010, file is available for download. The July 2010 Developer Preview of the International Release is also available for download.

• SNOMED CT®: International Release, January 2010

  The January 2010 International Release of SNOMED CT® is available for download.  The file names and directory structure have changed, and the International Release is now distributed as a single zipped file that includes the resources previously distributed in the “Essential” and “Optional” files.  The single zipped file contains the SNOMED CT terminology, cross maps, subsets, documentation, and US drug extension.  Documentation regarding this change is available in the release: \Documentation\Current\doc_FileNamingConvention_Current-en_INT_20100131.pdf
