Results
Results indicate a latency of up to 60s for transmission
of high-resolution 24-bit VH images for the 28.8kb/s case during peak internet
service periods. This is the worst case. Latency using cable modem or institutional
web connections is negligible. Web server statistics show approximately
120,000 hits per month. Preliminary observations of the use of the current
UM system has found that students of all ages, literally from 4 years to
over 80 years, have used the UM system and have found it of educational
value. We are currently engaged in planning and implementing appropriate
evaluation procedures to determine system and pedagogic performance.
