Results and Conclusions
In the paper we have reviewed content-based image retrieval.
Conventional Databases appear even efficient for image retrieval based
on textual indexing of image content. Nevertheless they can not manage
efficiently non-formatted data such as bit-mapped fields. OO-DBMS can perform
image retrieval based on non-structured data provided that a suitable model
is chosen. We have proposed an architecture for content-based image retrieval
based on an extended image model. In this framework both textual
and visual queries can be carried out. We have shown that user-view on
image data can be manage inside this architecture by adopting the software
agents paradigm.
