Organizations and Government Agencies

American Library Association (ALA). Office of Research and Statistics. This ALA office collects and provides access to statistics about libraries, the library workforce, library expenditures, and library research.

Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL). This association supports academic health sciences libraries serving accredited U.S. and Canadian medical schools that are members of or allied with the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Association of Research Libraries (ARL). This association surveys and produces statistics on 125 U.S. and Canadian research libraries.

Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). This U. S. Federal government organization provides grants to libraries and museums. It issues publications on state and public library statistics.

International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). Statistics and Evaluation Section . IFLA promotes best practices in compiling and using library statistics. Collaborates with other international organizations such as UNESCO and ISO.

ITHAKA. This is a not-for-profit institution whose mission is helping the academic community use new technologies to preserve the scholarly record and support the advancement of research, teaching, and learning. It provides three services: JSTOR, PORTICO, and Ithaka S+R.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Library Statistics Program. U.S. Department of Education. This program provides statistics on U.S. academic and school libraries.

Primary Research Group. This company publishes research reports, surveys, and benchmarking studies for companies and organizations, which include libraries.
