Organizations and Government Agencies

American Library Association (ALA), Office of Research and Statistics, collects and provides access to statistics about libraries, the library workforce, library spending, and library research.

Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) supports academic health sciences libraries serving accredited U.S. and Canadian medical schools. These schools are members of or allied with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

Association of Research Libraries (ARL) surveys and produces statistics on 125 U.S. and Canadian research libraries.

Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is a U. S. Federal government organization that provides grants to libraries and museums. It also publishes statistical reports on state and public libraries.

International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) , Statistics and Evaluation Section, promotes best practices in compiling and using library statistics. IFLA collaborates with other international organizations such as UNESCO and ISO.

ITHAKA helps the academic community use new technologies to preserve the scholarly record and support the advancement of research, teaching, and learning. It provides three services: JSTOR, PORTICO, and Ithaka S+R.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) , Library Statistics Program, U.S. Department of Education, has statistics on U.S. academic and school libraries.

Primary Research Group publishes research reports, surveys, and benchmarking studies for companies and organizations, including libraries.
