Cataloging and Metadata Management

Systems

  • Cataloging Environment 1998-2001
NLM implemented Voyager, developed by Endeavor Information Systems, Inc. (now known as Ex Libris Group) as the library's integrated library system. In 1998, Voyager replaced a number of internal-custom-built systems developed at NLM. The Voyager ILS supports basic library functions, including cataloging. Voyager is a fully integrated system that combines open system architecture and relational database technology.

  • Current Online Cataloging Environment at NLM
NLM transitioned from the Voyager Integrated Library System to the cloud-based Alma Library Services Platform on June 8, 2021. NLM staff uses Alma for core library operations including acquisitions, cataloging, collection management, and circulation.
