Banana (Hawaiian name: Mai‘a . Scientific name: Musa acuminata)
A concoction of ripe mai‘a, mashed and left to stand along with kalo and kukui nuts, and spring water added, is used to treat constipation. Another concoction is used for asthma, and mai‘a sap combined with crushed Kukui nut is used as a juice to treat thrush.
