She is one of the few people her age who can speak the Choctaw language
- [Lindberg:]
- Can you speak the Choctaw language?
- [Thompson:]
- Um-hum. I was raised up in a home where my mother and my grandmother speak it. I’m probably one of the few generations my age that can speak it. Some generations on down, they can speak it, or they can understand it, but they can’t speak it. So it’s been very hard to preserve it, but as long as we keep working, and you know, myself talking to younger kids in our language, I think we can preserve it.
