Better preparation for native students is needed to reverse the downward trend in medical school applications

- According to the AAMC – the Association of American Medical Colleges – in 2008, which is the last data we have there were 2,515 American Indian and Alaska Native positions in the country, which makes up point-five percent of the physician population, which is extremely low. I mean we got 350 applicants to med school in 2011 and about 157 entrants to medical school in 2011, and those numbers have gone down from 2004 it was about 450 applicants.
