In addition to medical services, a native clinic would provide a central home for the community

[Lindberg:]
So when you are looking around for a place, what would your ideal place be in L.A.?
[Garcia:]
I would say something very similar to like the Alaska Native model. Having all of the services in one central facility. Having different subspecialists so people don't have to travel far and get referred to outside systems, and definitely having a community component to it. Not only a place where you can get medical care, traditional healers, but also having just a central place where people can go. LA itself is so spread out that a place to call home would be nice.
