Importance of children having connections to the environment

- The notion to have our children grounded in the history and the heritage and the culture of this place, to have a sense to value our extraordinary and beautiful environment, to have education that’s engineered to be relevant and meaningful to the real challenge of issues as difficult as sustainability on a small island nation. In many ways there’s a certain percentage of people that live here that believe that these Hawaiian islands are the perfect laboratory, and the perfect school, for new education about living well on islands.
