Using traditional methods and modern medicine to treat illnesses

[Fernandez:]: One of the Indian healers that I knew, and one of my teachers, developed a couple very serious medical conditions, and he did both. He said “I’m going to do the traditional ceremonies, but I’m also going to make sure I go to a doctor and get the right diagnosis, the right prescription of medicines,” so he did both. And so I think to me it was a very interesting, powerful statement that even the healers, say, you know, “They’ve got their power. They know what they can do. I’m going to take advantage of that power. I have my power. I’m also going to incorporate that.”
