API Access to the Public Access Compliance Monitor

API Access to the Public Access Compliance Monitor. NLM Tech Bull. 2019 May-Jun;(428):b7.

May 16, 2019 [posted]

For institutions that use the Public Access Compliance Monitor (PACM) for monitoring the status of publications associated with their NIH awards, API access is now available to the downloadable CSV data. API access, like standard PACM access, requires a user to have an eRA account with a PACR role assigned. See the PACM User Guide for additional details on accounts and access. By making API access available, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) hopes to provide a more automated mechanism for importing compliance data to institutional manuscript tracking systems, see A New NIHMS (and PACM API) to Support Public Access.

The API Token is accessible in the top menu bar of PACM (see Figure 1).

Access API Token from the top menu bar of PACM.

A user must be logged into PACM with their eRA account to use the API token. The token should be added to the request, e.g., https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/utils/pacm/s?format=csv&api-token=3E966141-9279-42F5-8B8C-4CDE5D3B243D. A PACM API token will expire after three months.
