Subheadings

Since the MeSH terms in Category J are divided into three broad subcategories J1 (Technology, Industry, and Agriculture), J2 (Food and Beverages), and J3 (Non-Medical Public and Private Facilities) the subheadings allowed with these subcategories are also divided into two groups.

The following subheadings are permitted with the MeSH headings in Category J1:

/classification /legislation & jurisprudence
/economics /methods
/ethics /standards
/history /statistics & numerical data
/instrumentation

The following subheadings are permitted with the MeSH headings in Category J2:

/adverse effects /poisoning
/analysis /radiation effects
/classification /standards
/economics /statistics & numerical data
/history /supply & distribution
/instrumentation /toxicity
/microbiology /virology
/parasitology

The following subheadings are permitted with the MeSH headings in Category J3:

The subheading lists above are a basic list of subheadings permitted with Category J terms. Other subheadings may also be permitted with a particular term if this term is also in another category. For example, the subheadings permitted with PROTECTIVE DEVICES (J1 Category) are those that are permitted with equipment and supplies.

Check the MeSH record for the list of allowable qualifiers for the particular Category J term.
